Government changes 123-year-old law: up to 7 years in prison for attacking medical team


   Corona virus is spreading in the country.  From the center to the state government team is fighting against it.  At a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, it has been decided that the attack on the employees of the health department will not be linked.  Those who attack health department employees will be severely punished.  If attacked the medical team, the punishment for 3 months to 5 years will be double if it is damaged.


   An important decision has been taken in the cabinet meeting of the central government.  The epidemic has been discussed at a cabinet meeting.  The meeting also reviews the lockdown context.  However, after the cabinet meeting, Minister Prakash Javadekar, while briefing about the decisions of the cabinet meeting, said that attacks on medical teams in the country would no longer be tolerated.  Attacks on health workers are a non-bailable offense.

   Union minister has said that the attackers on medical personnel will not get bail.  The investigation will be completed within 30 days.  The decision will be made within 1 year, while the sentence can range from 3 months to 5 years.

   Apart from this, if there is a serious case, the punishment is provided from 6 months to 7 years.  In severe cases there will be a fine of 50 thousand to 2 lakhs.  According to the ordinance, if a health worker's vehicle is attacked, it will be charged more than the market value.
