Government's decision to levy toll tax on all National Highways from April 20
* The government postponed the provisional toltecs from March 25 following Corona.
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to resume collection of tolltexts from all the National Highways in the country from April 20th. The decision to initiate the collection of tolltexts in times of crisis has been widely opposed by the transports. The government has temporarily stopped collecting tolltexes on the National Highway to stop all forms of transportation across the country and to relieve e-emergency services after the Corona lockdown. Following the Home Ministry's announcement, the collection of tolltechs from all types of vehicles between states and within the state was postponed. It will be resumed on April 20, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said.
* Toll tax collection will increase government revenue
The Home Ministry has allowed some commercial and private business enterprises as well as construction sectors to start their operations on April 20, taking into account the decision, the NHAI said. The collection of tolltexts will increase government revenue. The lockdown is likely to cost NHAI Rs 1822 crore.
* The toll recovery decision for transport is similar to a blow
This has been strongly opposed by the All India Motor Transport Congress, the Association of Transport. He said the NHAl's decision was publicly contradictory. On the one hand, the government is forcing us to continue to supply essential goods in the midst of many adversities. While the work of transporters is being transported to bring loss and damage to the service of the country, the decision is akin to a shock for 3 lakh tourists and truck companies. Association President Kulratan Atwal said the entire transport industry had collapsed financially. Such decisions create challenges when it does not have the money to continue operating or bring drivers back.
